About CLPC

What began as a simple realization in Central Andros in 1982 has begun to materialize. Compelled by a vision since 1982, Julian and Christiana Russell relocated to the USA in 1994, in order to complete their theological studies and training. They returned to Nassau in January, 2017 and presently serve as Team Leaders for Mission to the World (MTW) Bahamas.

Their primary role is to plant a flagship church in New Providence, their birthplace.

Imagine Christian businesspersons leading the way in the development of our young people.

Imagine young Bahamian men serving as godly husbands, strong fathers, and reliable citizens!

Imagine young Bahamian women standing shoulder-to-shoulder with their husbands, their brothers, and with other women: contributing their great wealth of wisdom and persistence, as they serve out of the abundance of their giftedness.

Through Covenant Life Presbyterian Church, (CLPC), future church plants will be launched throughout the Bahamas. CLPC will aggressively seek to establish a vibrant Reformed witness in New Providence. We recognize a rapid spread of urbanization in most communities on New Providence. Therefore, we will strive to establish an Indigenous Leadership Development Plan (ILDP), which would facilitate the development of principal leadership in every positive aspect of life within the Bahamas, one community at a time.

CLPC will also establish Mercy Ministries which focus solely on the Christian Transformational Development of underserved communities. With faith in our Sovereign Lord, we are confident that these same leaders will begin a social and spiritual transformation of monumental proportions.

Julian completed both his D.Min., and Th.M. at Covenant Seminary, St. Louis. He completed his M.Div. at Reformed Theological Seminary. Prior to seminary, he worked as a computer professional for more than 20 years. Christiana completed her M.A. in Education at Christian Brothers University, Memphis, and her B.Sc. in Elementary Education and Speech Pathology at the University of Minnesota at Mankato. Christiana has been an educator for almost four decades.

Both Julian and Christiana attended St. Augustine’s College in Fox Hill. Julian also attended the College of the Bahamas. He studied for his Masters level in Computer Science through the British Computer Society, England.

By the Lord’s providence, the Russell’s have collectively seen more than half of the world, as they ministered in the United States, East and West Africa, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, Central America, and the Bahamas. Their hearts have always been centered on the Lord’s will for His people everywhere, especially those in the Bahamas. The Russell’s are “bridge-people” – those whom the Lord has trained to link communities that seem to be poles apart. The Lord has used this couple to bridge wide racial, ethnic, social, economic, and spiritual gaps between residents of several cities throughout the USA, and West Africa.

Julian and Christiana realize that the Lord had placed this desire on their hearts. Covenant Life is the means through which the Lord has guided them as they aggressively seek to identify Possible leaders for the purpose of developing Principal leaders.
